RALEIGH— Mr. Obama, speaking to a think tank in Washington, layed out plans for this country to solve the economic down turn and eliminate the deficit and national debts. The nation must “spend our way out of this recession” he decreed. Along with describing a sure-fire way to rescue America from her creditors through more borrowing and more tax cuts.
Reckless. That was the charge for so many years. Reckless partisan posturing. Reckless tax cuts. Reckless surge of troops. Reckless implementation of blind ideology. Reckless deficits. Reckless governmental power grabs. And reckless rewards for corporate criminality. And to think the previous administration passed all of that on to the next administration. For shame!
So to a group of thinkers Mr. Obama sang his partisan excuses: “[W]e were forced to take those steps largely without the help of an opposition party which, unfortunately, after having presided over the decision-making that led to the crisis, decided to hand it to others to solve”
He called for tax cuts and continued spending to save the country from economic meltdown.
He defended his recent decision to bring a surge in troops to the battle field.
He reiterated his support for a public-option, party ideology.
He restated his call to “Spend our way out of this Recession”.
He asked congress to pass legislation which will shift control of one-sixth of the US economy to the Government.
He defended the clause in his bailout bill preserving corporate bonuses.
But he does not fear. Should all his bills pass, they will go into effect after he has left office.
“When the president does it, that means it is not illegal.“
I’ve never understood the idea that when one is indebted beyond one’s means to repay forthwith, how it makes common sense to spend more debt to get out of debt.
In the real world this is called bankruptcy. It’s what some people imprudently do before declaring bankruptcy go out and spend all your money on consumer items while not paying your car payment and house payment. No use in saving money that could be garnished. Instead of doing the prudent things such as reducing expenses, negotiating and selling your creditors on better plans, and more…
In Chicago it is known as a pay-off or bribe. Mr. Obama has been successful in bribing many to support his causes. For instance the AARP, AMA, Auto Unions and Senator Lincoln (D) LA. Now he is trying to bribe the entire economy back into action.
I fear our friend is presiding over an economic avalanche which will ultimately bury us all. We certainly have gotten what we (the people) have elected…
Typical Obama speech – blame the previous administration for all of our national and world problems and then trot out unrealistic solutions that will leave a far worse mess for the next administration to clean up.
Massive and expanding corruption has been cultivated in the sewer of this Democratic-led government, with SEIU’s head Andy Stern leading the parade of union thugs delighted to take advantage of a Presidency devoted to special interests.
Congress must act to restore some semblance of fiscal responsibility, but are there enough true public servants there to effectively slow this destruction of our economy and, ultimately, our Republic?
re: Chuck
Yeah. I am feeling the rumblings of that avalanche coming. Not certain what will finally set it off but it looks like the US is in a very tenuous position.
