RALEIGH— It’s midnight, do you know what your Representatives are doing?
On what became nearly a party line vote Democrats shoved through a massive expansion of Government into your personal lives. The expansion came complete with broken campaign promises. Newly minted NY-23 Congressman broke no less than 4 campaign promises in his first 24 hours, leading everyone in upstate New York to realize Democrats lie for a living.
Mr. Obama’s campaign pledge not to raise taxes on the Middle Class was tossed out the window in favor of burdening this country with the heaviest of entitlements ever. By some calculations the tax burden on Middle America has increased by $600 billion with Nancy’s Health Care Scam.
Democrats in Congress passed this bill after watching their constituents roundly reject it. The idea of reform was in the air but the Democrats mislead the country and crammed through a massive expansion of Government into the private lives of every citizen.
One lone Republican voted for the bill, Anh “Joseph” Cao of Louisiana. In total 39 Democrats voted against the wishes of the Wicked Witch of the West.
No sufficient means of funding this program has been developed, while senior citizens just saw legislated euthanasia as Medicare funding was gutted in favor of the young.
The best remaining hope for the country rests in the Senate. It is time to call your Senators and voice opposition to this bill. Elections are right around the corner.
Right, even thought he bill will lower costs. Even though Medicare has been preserved, the only issue there is ending price-gouging by insurance companies.
Please show how the bill will lower costs? The bill only handicaps Medical Practicioners with price caps, it has done nothing to actually address why the prices are as high as they are.
The bill calls for $500 billion in Medicare Cuts.
Cut $500 billion in costs to add an additional $1+ trillion… Yep, that’s the government for you right there. It is smart and wise to spend money we don’t have for things that people should have the freedom to handle on their own.
Sheesh, Ian, you clearly drank the kool aide, judging from your website.
Put simply, this health care bill will be a fiscal trainwreck that is going to derail the “progressive” movement for another generation (if it passes in any form remotely close to what the House put together- highly unlikely).
When you talk glowingly about a bill that is going to give hippies, pot smokers, drop outs, independents turned Bush-haters, etc. a stark choice between paying a fine, buying healthcare, or going to prison, the liberal “dream” is going to be abruptly ended for a lot of those folks.
The fact that the taxes and “revenue generating schemes” are front-loaded for 2 to 3 years, before the goodies flow out is going to be another highly controversial aspect of this bill. I believe there is at least a small chance they will demand this bill be repealed even before the goodies start flowing (again, probably unlikely, given how hard it is to stop the monolith of government spending once has begun).
But you are most misleading on your site when you try and take the high road by saying the “American people” are demanding this type of reform.
The “American people” are not united. There is not a small 10% of Fox News watchers and a 90% of America that is sitting back, watching Obama in awe like you are.
“Tea party goers” are not the fringe elements here, either, unfortunately for you and your Obama dogs. They may be a little dramatic in some of their sloganeering, but they are only the most vocal elements of an enormous swath of the American population that is increasingly appalled by the breadth and scope of Obama’s profligate spending. Most pollls showin overwhelming disapproval of Obama’s “health care plans.” (CNN, Rasmussen, etc.).
This thing is going to touch that libertarian nerve that exists in most Americans- we are a freedom loving people and this bill is an assault on freedom.
Obama (foolishly) went after the piece of healthcare reform that is not the #1 priority for most Americans. Most Americans are looking for reforms to contain rising costs. Instead, Obama and the leftists in Congress went after expanding coverage. And they are achieiving this in a manner that is going to make costs spike even further and that will surely drive up taxes on the middle class in coming years. You think that is going to be good for America?
Republicans are offering solutions that cost substantially less and hit at the margins of health care to change the incentive structures in such a way to allow market participants to drive down costs on their own.
This is much smarter and more cost effective.
But again, you and the leftists continue to believe unwaveringly in this idea that if the government throws enough money at something (healthcare, education, economic stimulus etc., etc.), it can’t help but work.
Unfortunately, that’s proven over and again to be wrong.
Cuts to the insurance industry. No cuts to actual services.
Right… we all know that when money is siphoned off of a service, the reprecussions only go to the provider, not the consumer.
And again, your discription is that of a price cap, much like Nixon attempted in his price controls, or FDR in his price manipulation. Those went over so well.
Profits in the insurance industry run somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-3%. They make their money on volume. They are not evil.
TBC, any profit is evil. Tax increases on the middle class and government dictated health care is good. The government should run everything and make everything equal and fair. Because we all know the ends justify the means. And oppression in the form of punishing one group to give to another in the name of pretend human rights is enlightenment.
