Good stuff. I wish he would run for President again…
Yep – he is good. I’m interested that you like him, though. He’s not much of a libertarian- in fact, he thinks libertarianism is one of the threats to the Republican Party. He is definitely a guy who thinks the government should help in some ways with poverty, etc. if you listen to him regularly. Curious your thoughts there.
For one he is just a good guy with actual principles, I don’t agree with him on everything. But I do agree that libertarianism is a threat to the Republican Party especially as the Republican’s get further from their roots.
On the issues Huckabee is a Fair Tax guy, which is something I’ve been supporting since 2002-2003 pretty early on in it’s history. I think the Fair Tax is one of the single greatest things that could be done for this country right now.
He is also big on education and giving states more power particularly in education although not limited to this. He also supports tax credits for private school and school vouchers (although some have said he doesn’t it’s not true). I think we have to give more choice in education and less government interference.
Third, is his aggressive stance against Islamic Jihad. He seems to recognize the threat and doesn’t usually sugar coat the reality of the threat of the Islamic Supremacist mentality.
– Economy
– Education
– Islamic Threat
On these three issues which are of the most importance to me we agree almost identically. He is against government run health care as well and his economic solution would probably go a long way to resolving future funding problems as well. (Still a band-aid, but first-things-first as Mr. Covey would say)
I always pick the losing candidate from Jack Kemp to Allen Keyes to Mike Huckabee…the Republican Party is so frustrating…
Pick Ron Paul. He may not win, but you sure do feel vindicated. The audit of the Federal Reserve is picking up steam.
