LONG BEACH— So this is Christmas. It’s cold and rainy. It’s cloudy outside. This isn’t much like Southern California.
I grew up with the tradition of opening gifts on Christmas day. I keep this tradition still. Even if I am traveling. I enjoy it. The anticipation of discovering what is hidden beneath yards of colorful paper is just exciting.
I have a new dog in the family. She is only four months old. This will be her first Christmas and I’m certain the yards of colorful paper will be just as exciting to her.
One other part of Christmas traditions I enjoy is the movie watching. A Christmas Story is coming on for 24 straight hours. It’s probably the best Christmas programming done on TV. This movie cracks me up every time I see it.
We here at American Missive hope you have a Merry Christmas this year.
Oh Fudge………I love that movie!
Yeah- I grew up with common sense. If I was going on a 9-day trip across the southeastern United States for Christmas and I received presents from family at my house ahead of said trip, then I found it sensible to open them at that time- rather than lugging them around with me. I enjoy them all the same.
As for Christmas Story- it is indeed a classic. Funny stuff!
And finally, as for this Christmas- I think in this economy especially we should be mindful of those in need. This is a rough year for a lot of folks- so I would encourage any readers of this blog to consider giving a little more to your church or local charity this Christmas season.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope it is a blessed one for you and those you love!
