ATLANTA— Faced with what was once almost certain victory in November, the Democratic party may be squandering its chances. A new poll is in, suggesting Barack Obama’s broad appeal across party lines is starting to shrivel up. Conservatives are slowly being driven away from the Democratic candidate. Democrats have every reason to be nervous and anxious about these polls. It is going to be difficult to turn them around this late in the game. See the latest Gallup analysis for further analysis. Also, see our missives titled ”Democrats Should be Nervous” and ”Joe Biden?? Try Joe Boring” for our perspectives on the reasons behind these trends (use the “home” link in the upper right to access these columns).
It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the polls in upcoming weeks.
And let us know your thoughts! We’d love to hear other perspectives. Can Obama turn this around?
